Responsibilities & Requirements Under supervision of the Practice Manager, the Front Office Specialist is typically the first point of contact (phone and in-person) for the office. This role notifies office staff when a patient is ready to be seen and provides a wide variety of administrative support duties. The Front Office Specialist is responsible for: Greeting patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Answering telephone calls, screening calls, arranging appointments, and referrals. Obtaining information, answering questions, and notifying the physician or assistant of the patient's arrival. Preparing new records, organizing files, and maintaining records. Typing correspondence, reports, e-memos, and forms. Sorting and distributing mail. Performing any other duties relating to the business operation of the medical practice that may be assigned by the physician(s) or practice office manager. Job Requirements: Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous front office experience or background in general office work. Ability to comprehend established office routines and policies. Ability to learn quickly from oral and written instructions. Ability to operate a computer. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of CPT & ICD-9 coding. Understanding of the ethics of confidentiality. Good organization skills. Tact and diplomacy. Preferred Qualifications Electronic medical records experience.
